Use Grape AI in Telegram

Connect your Telegram account, then save, find and change your notes by writing, or by sending a photo or a voice message to the Grape bot.

Grape AI answers in Telegram too. Connect your Telegram account once, and you can write to the Grape bot the way you write in Grape's chat: save a thought, find a note, add to one, or make a folder and file your notes in it. What it writes is a normal note in your account and shows up in your Grape apps through sync. It is part of the Pro plan; Plus and Lifetime do not include it.

The bot is @GrapeNotesBot, with that name and no other. Grape never asks for a password or a code in Telegram, so a bot that does is not Grape.

Connect Telegram

Connecting starts in the Grape app, on your computer or your phone, where you are already signed in. Open Settings, go to Integrations under Apps, and open Telegram: Set up on the computer, a tap on the phone. Choose Connect, and Grape makes a link to the bot that works once, for 10 minutes. On the phone it opens in Telegram straight away; Copy link takes it to another device. On the computer, click Connect Telegram to open it in Telegram there, or scan its QR code with your phone's camera. In Telegram, tap Start. The bot names the Grape account it would connect, with part of the email hidden; tap Connect. Back in Grape, the page shows your Telegram username, as in "@yourname wants to connect", with Allow and Deny. Tap Allow only if that is your own Telegram account. Nothing connects until both taps happen: a link someone else sends you cannot connect your Telegram unless you tap Connect, and if a link you made reaches someone else, their username shows up on your page instead of yours, so you tap Deny and make a new link. Your account then shows on the page, and Grape sends an email to say it was connected, with how to reach support if it was not you.

What you can ask

Write in your own words, in any language:

  • "Remember to call the dentist on Friday" saves a note.
  • "What did I write about the trip?" finds the notes and answers from them.
  • "Add milk to my shopping list" adds to a note.
  • "Make a Recipes folder and move my pasta note there" organizes them.
  • A message you forward from another chat can be saved or summarized. The bot treats it as content, not as something to obey.

Reply to one of your earlier messages and the bot reads it with your new one, so "add this to that" works. It can also answer questions that have nothing to do with your notes, like the chat in the app.

Voice messages

Send a voice message and Grape writes it down first. When it asks for something, the bot does it. When it is just a thought, a memo or a list said out loud, the bot saves it as a new note with a short title and keeps your words as you said them. A voice message can be up to 30 minutes long.

Photos

Send a photo, or a picture as a file, and Grape AI looks at it. With nothing else in the message, the bot saves it as a new note: a short title that says what it shows, the photo, and any text it can read in it, written out, so a receipt, a whiteboard or a page of a book becomes text you can search. Add a caption to ask for something else, like "add this to my Rome trip note" or "what plant is this?". It saves the photo only when you ask, and the photo comes into the note as a picture, the same as one you add in the app. Send several at once and they come as one message. A saved photo counts toward your attachment storage.

While it works

Under the chat, the bot shows what it is doing, step by step, like Searching your notes, Reading Thailand trip or Creating Japan trip, and then its reply as it writes it, with a Stop button. Tap Stop, or send /cancel, to stop it. Whatever it already changed stays changed, and the reply says what.

Deleting and replacing wait for you

Before the bot deletes a note or a folder, or replaces the whole of a note it did not write, it asks under its reply, with Confirm and Cancel buttons. Nothing changes until you tap Confirm, within 10 minutes. Adding to a note never waits. A deleted note goes to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days.

One message can change at most five notes or folders. When there is more to do, the bot does the first ones and says what is left.

Undo and starting fresh

Send /undo and the bot puts back its last change: a new note goes to Recently Deleted, a changed note gets its old text back, a moved note returns to its folder. Send it again for the change before that. Deleting a folder cannot be undone here; its notes are in Recently Deleted.

The bot remembers the last 20 messages of a conversation, until two hours pass without one. Send /new to start fresh sooner. What it should remember for good belongs in a note, or in Grape's memory, which it reads, along with your custom instructions.

Commands

  • /new starts a fresh conversation.
  • /undo undoes the bot's last change.
  • /cancel stops what it is doing.
  • /help shows what it can do.
  • /logout disconnects this Telegram account.
  • /start connects, or says which Grape account this one is connected to.

Limits

Each message you send counts as one message of AI chat in your Grape AI allowance, and a voice message also counts under voice transcription, one part for every five minutes. A few messages sent close together count as one. The bot cannot open videos or files other than pictures yet, or search the web. A locked note stays out of its reach, and so do notes other people shared with you. It works in a private chat only: added to a group, it leaves.

Disconnect

In Settings under Integrations, open Telegram (Manage on the computer), then choose Disconnect next to the account. Or send /logout to the bot. Either way the bot stops answering that account and forgets your conversation, and your notes stay as they are. Ending your Pro plan keeps the link, but the bot answers only that Pro is needed. The same page lists, under AI apps, the apps you connected on grape.cool, such as ChatGPT and Claude; Telegram has its own row above them and is never in that list.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In Settings under Integrations, click Manage next to Telegram.
2Click Disconnect next to the account.
Step by stepOn mobile
1In Settings under Integrations, tap Telegram, then Disconnect next to the account.

Privacy

Your messages to the bot, the photos and voice messages included, are sent to OpenAI to answer them. Telegram chats are not end-to-end encrypted, so Telegram can read them too. Grape keeps the last day of your conversation, so the bot can follow along, and for a day what a note was before the bot changed it, so /undo can put it back. Disconnecting deletes both. The details are in the privacy policy.

This is one way in to your notes from outside Grape. ChatGPT and Claude and the Grape CLI are the others, and all three use the same tools.
