Grape AI comes with an allowance rather than a meter you have to watch, but when a reply is refused it helps to see where you stand.
Opening it
Open Settings and choose Usage in the AI section, just under Indexing. It is there on the laptop and the phone alike, on Plus and Pro, since the Sync plan has no AI to meter and Lifetime runs on your own keys. Plus has about half of Pro's allowance, and its page only shows the bars for what Plus includes: AI chat, voice transcription and mini apps.
The bars
- AI chat covers the assistant, including the work it does editing your notes. On Pro the chat answers on the best model, and once a month's use of it runs out it carries on with the standard model rather than stopping
- Voice transcription covers turning recordings into text, voice notes from the Lock Screen included, with or without speaker identification. Transcription is counted in parts of up to four minutes, so a window holds about six and a half hours of audio on either plan, and a month about 13 hours on Plus and about 33 on Pro. Each speaker identification counts once, however long the recording
- Brainrot videos counts the videos you generated, on Pro
- Infographics counts the posters you generated on Grape Pro Image Model, on Pro
- Slide deck images counts the pictures Grape Pro Image Model drew for your slide decks, on Pro. The slides themselves are written by the chat model and count under AI chat
- AI images counts the images the chat generates on Grape Pro Image Model, on Pro
- Mini apps counts the mini apps made or changed on Grape AI, which gives each one more thought than a chat turn
- Agent routines counts the runs of your routines, Run now included, on Pro
Each bar is a percentage rather than a count, because six percent says what you want to know and 124 of 1500 makes you do the division. A few smaller caps are metered on the server and deliberately left out of the page: they exist to catch a runaway loop rather than to be budgeted against.
The two periods
Usage opens on Last 5 hours, the limit people actually run into and the only one whose reset is close enough to wait for. Switch to This month for the longer view. A month here is only a few windows wide, so it can genuinely run out first.
When you run out
Wait for the window to reset, which Usage counts down to, or use your own API key or a local model instead. Keys you bring yourself are billed by that provider and are not metered here. On Plus, moving to Pro doubles the allowance.
The colours
A bar turns amber past seventy percent and red past ninety, so a glance is enough.
