The editor is block based, which means each paragraph, list, table or image is its own block.
Blocks you get
- Headings, paragraphs, quotes and horizontal rules
- Bulleted, numbered and checkbox lists
- Tables
- Highlights in eight colors
- Images and PDFs
- A drawing canvas
- Voice recordings
- Links to the web and links to other notes
- Tags, typed as
#anywhere in the text
Inserting on desktop
Type / on an empty line for the slash menu, or use the toolbar in the editor header. Markdown shortcuts work as you type, and pasting Markdown converts it to rich text rather than leaving you with raw symbols.
Inserting on mobile
The formatting toolbar sits above the keyboard and scrolls sideways. Groups like Text, Highlight and Attachments open a sub row with more buttons, and a back arrow returns you to the main row. Undo and redo buttons appear in the note header while you edit.
Desktop only blocks
Audio files can only be inserted on desktop for now. If a note holds a block the phone cannot edit yet, the mobile app shows a small card explaining that it stays in your note and still works on desktop, so nothing is lost.
Exporting
Any note can be exported as Markdown, HTML or PDF from the note menu, and the whole library can be exported at once.
