Connect apps to Grape AI and your agents

Sign in to Notion, Linear, Todoist, Airtable or GitLab once, then let Grape AI and your agents read from them and make changes there.

Connected apps let Grape AI and your agents work in the other tools you use. Sign in to Notion, Linear, Todoist, Airtable or GitLab once, and the chat can look things up there and make changes: find what is left in a Linear project, read a Notion page before it writes your notes, add the to-dos from a meeting to Todoist. Connected apps are part of the Pro plan, not Plus or Lifetime.

Connect an app

Open Settings and go to Apps, in the AI group under Routines. Next to the app, choose Connect. Its sign-in page opens: in your browser on desktop, in a sheet on the phone. Sign in, allow Grape, and the app shows as Connected.

Grape keeps the sign-in on its servers, never on your devices, so you connect an app once and it works on your computer, on your phone and in routines.

Step by stepOn desktop
1Open Settings, go to Apps under Routines and click Connect next to the app.
2Sign in to Notion in the browser that opens and allow Grape.
3Back in Grape, Notion shows as Connected.
Step by stepOn mobile
1In Settings, tap Apps under Routines.
2Tap Connect next to the app.
3Sign in to Notion in the sheet that opens and tap Allow.
4Back in Settings, Notion shows as Connected.

Use it with Grape AI

In a chat without an agent, Grape AI uses every app you connect, and makes changes in them when you ask it to. There is nothing to switch on. To keep it away from a tool, turn the tool off on the app's page, see Choose its tools below.

Let an agent use it

Open the agent in Settings under Agents. Under Apps, switch on each app it may use. An app starts read only: the agent can search and read there, and nothing more. To let it make changes too, like creating an issue or adding a task, switch on Let it make changes in that app. On desktop, click Save; on the phone it saves as you switch.

An agent uses only the apps you switch on for it, so make one when you want a chat that reaches only some apps, or only reads them.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In Settings under Agents, click the pencil on the agent.
2Under Apps, switch on Notion. It starts read only.
3To let it make changes too, switch on Let it make changes in Notion.
4Click Save.
Step by stepOn mobile
1In Settings under Agents, tap the agent.
2Under Apps, switch on Notion. It starts read only.
3To let it make changes too, switch on Let it make changes in Notion.
4It saves as you switch, and Notion says what the agent may do.

Chat with it

In a chat with Grape AI or the agent, ask for what you need: "what is left in the Linear project for the launch?", or "add the to-dos from this note to Todoist". The chat picks the app's tools itself, and each call shows as a step, named with the app and what it did, like Notion: Search pages. It changes something in an app only when you ask it to, and says what it changed.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In a chat with the agent, ask for what you need.
2Each call shows as a step with the app and what it did, like Notion: Search pages.

Choose its tools

Open the app in Settings under Apps to see everything it offers. Each tool has a switch: turn one off, and neither Grape AI nor any agent uses it. The tools marked Makes changes are the ones an agent uses only where you allowed changes. When the app adds tools of its own, Refresh tools reads them again.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In Settings under Apps, click Manage next to the app.
2Switch off a tool, and no agent uses it.
3When Notion adds tools of its own, click Refresh tools.
Step by stepOn mobile
1In Settings under Apps, tap the app.
2Switch off a tool, and no agent uses it.
3When Notion adds tools of its own, tap Refresh tools.

In routines

Routines use apps too: Grape AI's own routines use every connected app, and an agent's use the apps you switched on for it. So a routine can read your Linear issues every Monday morning and write a summary note before you start.

When it needs a new sign-in

If the sign-in runs out, or you take Grape's access back in the app itself, the app shows Needs a new sign-in in Settings, and the chat tells you it cannot reach it. Choose Reconnect on the app's page and sign in again. Grape AI and the agents that used it keep it.

Step by stepOn desktop
1When an app says Needs a new sign-in, click Manage next to it.
2Click Reconnect and sign in again in your browser.
3It says Connected again, and its agents keep it.
Step by stepOn mobile
1When an app says Needs a new sign-in, tap it.
2Tap Reconnect and sign in again in the sheet.
3It says Connected again, and its agents keep it.

Disconnect an app

Open the app in Settings under Apps and choose Disconnect. Grape asks the app to forget its sign-in, and Grape AI and every agent stop using it. You can connect it again later.

Step by stepOn desktop
1On the app's page in Apps, click Disconnect.
2Click Disconnect to confirm.
3Notion is back to Connect, and no agent uses it.
Step by stepOn mobile
1On the app's page, tap Disconnect.
2Tap Disconnect to confirm.
3Notion is back to Connect, and no agent uses it.

What the app sees

An app sees only what the chat sends it in a call: a search, a page to read, an issue to make. Grape never hands your notes to an app on its own. What the app sends back goes to the agent's model the way a note does, and stays in the chat.

This is the other direction from the connection for ChatGPT and Claude, which lets those apps reach your Grape notes.

Limits

An account can connect up to 10 apps, and its chats can make up to 3,000 calls to them a month. Slack, Google Calendar, Outlook and Gmail are not available yet.
