Schedule routines

Have Grape AI or one of your agents do something on its own at a time you set, once or on repeat, and read each run as a chat.

A routine is work you hand Grape AI, or one of your agents, to do on its own at a set time: once tomorrow at nine, every morning, every Monday and Friday, or on the first of every month. Grape runs it on its servers with Grape AI, so it runs even while your phone and your computer are off. Each run is saved as a chat, and it can write notes as it works. You do not need an agent: Grape AI does a routine itself, with all your notes and the web. Routines are part of the Pro plan.

Make a routine

Open Settings and go to Routines, in the AI group under Agents. Choose New routine. Grape AI does it to start with; to hand it to one of your agents instead, pick the agent at the top. Give the routine a name and write what it should do. Write it as a full brief, the way you would leave a note for someone working while you are away: what to look at, what to write and where to put it. It works alone and cannot ask you anything.

Then pick when: Once with a date, Every day, Every week with its days, or Every month with the day of the month, and the time. Choose Add routine, and the list shows when it runs next. A routine keeps the clock of the device you made it on, so one set for 8:00 in Istanbul runs at 8:00 Istanbul time wherever you are.

Step by stepOn desktop
1Open Settings, go to Routines under Agents and click New routine.
2Pick who does it, name the routine and write what it should do.
3Under When, pick Every week, the days and the time.
4Click Add routine.
5The routine joins the list, with when it runs next.
Step by stepOn mobile
1In Settings, tap Routines under Agents, then New routine.
2Pick who does it, name the routine and write what it should do.
3Under When, tap Repeat and pick Every week.
4Tap the days it runs, then Time to pick the hour and minute.
5Tap Add routine.
6The routine joins the list, with when it runs next.

Ask in the chat

You can also just ask. In any chat, say what you want and when: "every morning at 8, find the AI news and write me a short note", or "tomorrow at 9, go through my launch notes and list what is left". Grape AI, or the agent the chat is with, schedules the routine and says when it runs. Ask it which routines it has, or tell it to stop one, and it does that too. Each keeps to its own: Grape AI sees the routines it does, and an agent sees its own.

What a run can do

When Grape AI does a routine, it reads all your notes, searches the web, writes and adds to notes, and knows what it remembers about you. A new note goes into your Notes folder at the top level, or your first folder when there is none.

When an agent does it, the run follows the agent's instructions, knowledge and switches, and answers with Grape AI whatever model the agent uses in the chat. It reads your notes (only the agent's own folders and notes when Read all your notes is off) and the agent's files, searches the web when Search the web is on, and writes and adds to notes when Create and edit notes is on. A new note goes into the agent's first knowledge folder.

Either way, a run cannot move, organize or delete notes, make images or change what the AI remembers about you, and a locked note stays out of reach.

See what it did

Each run is a chat in the chat history, with Grape AI or with the agent, named after the routine, with the steps it took. Open the routine in Settings to see its history: when each run happened, how it went, the start of its answer and the notes it wrote. Click or tap a run to open its chat and carry on from there. A run that did not finish says why, for example that the agent was turned off or the month's Grape AI allowance ran out.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In Settings under Routines, click the pencil on the routine.
2History lists each run, how it went and the notes it wrote.
3Click Open chat to read the run and carry on from there.
4The run is a chat with the agent, with the steps it took.

Run it now

On a routine, Run now starts a run straight away without moving its schedule. It is a good way to check the brief does what you want before the first morning comes. When it finishes, its chat arrives with the next sync.

Step by stepOn desktop
1On the routine, click Run now under History.
2It says Running, and its chat arrives when it finishes.
Step by stepOn mobile
1On the routine, tap Run now under History.
2It says Running, and its chat arrives when it finishes.

Get notified

Turn on Routines in Settings under Notifications to hear when a run finishes, and click or tap the notification to open its chat. On the phone, the first routine you add asks whether you want them. On desktop the notification comes while Grape is not in front; in front, a notice with Open shows instead. See Get notified when the AI is done.

Step by stepOn desktop
1In Settings under Notifications, switch on Notify me when a routine runs.
2With Grape in the background, a notification says when a run is done. Click it.
3Grape comes to the front with the run open in the chat.
Step by stepOn mobile
1The first routine you add asks whether to tell you when it runs. Tap Allow.
2To change it later, use Routines in Settings, Notifications.
3When a run is done, a notification says so. Tap it.
4Grape opens the run as a chat with the agent.

Turn one off or delete it

Each routine has a switch: off, it stays in the list and does not run until you turn it back on. Delete routine removes it, and the chats of its past runs stay. While an agent is turned off, its routines' runs are skipped, and if the agent is deleted, its routines turn themselves off. Grape AI's own routines never stop for that.

Limits

An account can have 20 routines, and a run can take up to four minutes. Each run counts toward your Grape AI allowance under Agent routines, so a daily routine is about thirty runs a month.
