The desktop app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Go to the download page and pick your platform.
Which build to pick
- macOS comes in two builds. Choose Apple Silicon if your Mac is M1 or newer, and Intel for older machines.
- Windows is a standard installer. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time because the app is new, and you can continue from the More info link.
- Linux ships as a Debian package for x64 and arm64.
The first launch
There is no account step and no setup wizard. Grape creates a local database on your machine, adds a couple of sample notes so the app is not empty, and shows a short welcome screen. Everything on the free plan works from that moment without signing in.
Where your notes live
The database is a file on your disk. If you want it somewhere specific, like a folder you already back up, change its location in Settings under General.
Updates
Grape checks for updates on its own, and the General tab in Settings has a manual check with the version you are on. Downloading and restarting into the new version happens from the same place.
The phone is a separate app
The mobile app has its own install guide, and the two stay on the same library through sync if you use it.
